4 Reasons Why You Should Work With A Headhunter In Securing Your Next Job

Every so often I run into #civilengineers who refuse to work with recruiters in uncovering new opportunities.

Last year I had a #civilengineer tell me she does not take calls from headhunters because she believes that firms that hire search consultants are unethical.

Just the other day I had a water/wastewater engineer text me simply, “I don’t work with recruiters.” My guess is he probably had a bad experience working with one in the past which tainted his opinion. Like any profession, there are always bad apples, but don’t let one bad apple ruin the bunch!

That said, there are several reasons why a civil engineer might choose to use a headhunter to explore new job opportunities:

⌛Time savings: A headhunter can do the legwork of searching for and identifying potential job openings, saving the engineer time and energy.

🔐Insider knowledge: Headhunters often have connections and insider knowledge of companies and job openings that may not be widely advertised.

💰Negotiation expertise: Headhunters can help negotiate salary and other terms on behalf of the engineer, potentially securing a better offer.

🤫Confidentiality: Using a headhunter allows the engineer to confidentially explore new opportunities without their current employer finding out.
