12 Jan Comfort Is The Enemy Of Progress
I can’t tell you how many times I speak with folks who tell me they are not interested in considering a positive career move because they are “comfortable.”
Personally, I’m in the camp that believes comfort is the enemy of progress.
Being comfortable with one’s current career situation can have several downsides.
➡️One downside is that it can cause individuals to become complacent in their work and stop seeking out new opportunities for growth and development. This can make it difficult for them to adapt to changes in their field or stay current with new technologies and trends, which can limit their advancement opportunities.
➡️Additionally, being comfortable can lead to lack of motivation and less initiative, causing performance to drop and limiting the chance of new opportunities or promotion.
➡️Another downside is that when people become too comfortable in their current career situation, they may stop thinking about their long-term career goals and aspirations. This can make it more difficult for them to make changes or progress in their careers when the time comes.
➡️Lastly, it may lead to being overlooked by employers looking for candidates who are proactive and ambitious, as well as to miss out on valuable networking opportunities and other career-enhancing experiences.
