The Office Connection: Why Being In The Same Place Matters

The Office Connection: Why Being In The Same Place Matters

The value of being in the office is real.

This morning I was working out at the gym and I saw two guys, probably 10-15 years apart in age, outside having a conversation. They had just finished a game of 5-on-5 basketball.

They talked for about 15-20 minutes and then parted ways.

Now I have no idea what they were talking about.

🏀Maybe they were talking hoops.
🚸Maybe they were talking about their kids.
💼Maybe they were talking business.

My point being, they were in the same place together and were likely having a spur-of-the-moment conversation that I’m sure provided value.

📆They did not have to go onto their Outlook calendars to schedule a time to have that conversation.
💻They did not have to log in to Zoom or TEAMS.
😴They did not have to wait for an unreturned voicemail or text message.

From a professional/career standpoint, do spur-of-the-moment opportunities like that make you believe that being back in the office MOST days during the week provides greater value than fully remote?
